Apps section
The Apps section holds app blocks from your installed Shopify apps on any Highlight page, with an optional heading and full width.
Applies to: Highlight 4.1.0 and later. Added in: Highlight 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Highlight 4.1.0.
The Apps section holds blocks from the Shopify apps you installed, such as reviews, size charts or Instagram feeds, on any Highlight page. Use it when an app offers an app block but no section of its own.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Add section → Apps (Custom category).
App blocks in the section
- After you add the section, select Add block inside it. The list shows the app blocks of your installed apps.
- Heading shows a small title above the app blocks. Leave it empty for no title.
- Full width lets the app blocks use the whole width of the page. Off, they line up with the text of the other Highlight sections.
- Heading tag sets the HTML level of the heading for search engines. It does not change its size.
The Apps section shows only app blocks. Apps that work as app embeds (chat widgets, cookie banners, tracking) are turned on in the theme editor under App embeds, not here.
Why is the app block list empty?
None of your installed apps offers an app block. Check the app's own setup guide: some apps add a section of their own, others work only as an app embed. Apps that need code in theme files are not supported by the theme editor.
Can I put an app block inside another section?
Yes, in some sections. The Card of the Flex cards section, the Text card of the Flex grid section, the product page's Product information section and the Featured product section also accept app blocks. Other Highlight sections do not.
