Blog page
The Blog page template lists a blog's articles in Highlight, with tag filtering, posts per page and the blog post card blocks.
Applies to: Highlight 4.1.0 and later. Added in: Highlight 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Highlight 4.1.0.
The Blog page template lists the articles of a blog, newest first, with page numbers when there are more articles than fit on one page. The blog's title is the page heading.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → choose Blogs → Default blog in the page menu at the top → Blog page section.
Blog page
- Enable filtering by tags adds a dropdown next to the blog title with all the tags of the blog's articles. Choosing a tag shows only the articles with that tag. Default: off.
- Number of posts per page sets how many articles show before the page numbers, 2 to 24 in steps of 2. Default: 8.
Blog post card
Show featured image shows each article's featured image, cropped to 4:3. Default: on. With images on, the first article of each page shows large, with the image on one side and the text on the other; the others show in a grid below. With images off, all articles show in the grid.
Blocks
The blocks decide what each article card shows under its image, in their order. Each block can be added once. The template starts with Title, Info, Excerpt and Link.
Title
Shows the article title, linked to the article.
Info
- Show date shows the publishing date. Default: on.
- Show author shows the author's name. Default: off.
Excerpt
Shows the article's excerpt, or the first 15 words of the article when the excerpt is empty.
Link
Shows a "Keep reading" link to the article.
How do I let customers filter articles by topic?
Add tags to your articles in Shopify admin → Content → Blog posts, then turn on Enable filtering by tags. The tag dropdown shows next to the blog title. On an article page, the Article tags block also links each tag to the filtered blog.
Can I use a different layout for one blog?
Yes. In the theme editor, create a new blog template from the page menu (Blogs → Create template), set it up, then assign it to the blog in Shopify admin → Content → Blog posts → Manage blogs → the blog → Theme template.
All Blog page settings
Every setting, with its type and default.
Accepts these blocks: Title, Info, Excerpt and Link.
