Password page
The Password page template is what visitors see while your Highlight store is password protected: logo, heading and email signup.
Applies to: Highlight 4.1.0 and later. Added in: Highlight 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Highlight 4.1.0.
The Password page template is what people see while your store is password protected, for example before launch: your logo, an "Opening soon" message, your password message and an email signup form. Anyone with the password can enter the store from it.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → choose Password in the page menu at the top. The page shows only while the store has a password, set in Shopify admin → Online Store → Preferences → Password protection.
What the template contains
- Password header: your logo and an "Enter using password" link that opens the password form. It is part of the password layout, so it cannot be removed or moved.
- Heading: a Heading section with "Opening soon".
- Password content: the message you write in Shopify admin → Online Store → Preferences → Password protection → Message for your visitors. It has no settings of its own.
- Email signup: an Email signup section with "Be the first to know when we launch". Subscribers are saved as customers in Shopify admin.
You can add, remove and reorder the sections other than the Password header.
Password header
- Logo image shows your logo. Without it, the store name shows as text.
- Logo image maximum height sets the logo height, 25 to 140 px. Default: 80 px.
- The password form that opens from "Enter using password" also has the link "Are you the store owner? Log in here", which opens Shopify admin.
How do I change the password page message?
Write it in Shopify admin → Online Store → Preferences → Password protection → Message for your visitors. The Password content section shows it centered under the heading. To change "Opening soon", edit the Heading section in the theme editor.
How do I remove the password page?
Turn off password protection in Shopify admin → Online Store → Preferences. Your store then opens for everyone and the password page is no longer shown. On a development or trial store you may need to pick a paid plan first.
