Troubleshoot sections, cards and blocks
Troubleshoot sections, cards and blocks in Seventh: why a section is not showing, looks different on mobile, or a block cannot be added.
Applies to: Seventh 4.0.0 and later. Added in: Seventh 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-12 against Seventh 4.0.0.
Use this page when a section, card or block does not show, a setting is missing, or a layout looks different from what you expect in Seventh. Each question gives the cause first, then the fix, and links the page with all settings.
Where to find the settings: select the section, card or block in the theme editor sidebar. Settings shared by all sections are described on General section styling.
Why is my section not showing on the storefront?
Because the section is hidden, has no content, or you have not saved. Check these in order:
- The eye icon next to the section in the theme editor sidebar is not crossed out.
- You selected Save, and you are looking at the published theme, not another theme.
- The section has visible blocks, and no block hides itself because its dynamic source is empty.
- For the Apps section, the app is installed and its app block is added (see Apps section).
Why is my block not showing?
Because Hide block if dynamic content is not present is on and the connected metafield or product field is empty. Heading, Text, Caption, Image, Video and Accordion blocks have this setting; fill in the field, or turn the setting off. See Text block.
Why can't I find a block in Add block?
Because each section or card accepts only some blocks: product, collection and article blocks (for example Product price or Article title) are offered only inside the matching card. Add a Product card, Collection card or Article card first, or a Content group inside it. See Blocks and Content group block.
Why is a setting missing from the editor?
Because it depends on another setting: Seventh shows a setting only when it applies. Common examples:
- Grid gap is hidden while Scatter cards is on.
- Extend section width to the edges of the screen appears only when the section header Position is Top, or the card height is above 1.
- A card's Minimum height and Vertical alignment are hidden while the section's Cards alignment is Stretch.
- Open link in a new window appears only after a Link is set.
Why are my cards different heights?
Because the cards hold different amounts of content. Set the section's Cards alignment to Stretch, then Stretch alignment type to Space between to pin the last block to the bottom. See General section styling.
Why does the card height setting not work?
Because the section's Cards alignment is Stretch, so every card takes the height of the row and the card's Minimum height is hidden. Set Cards alignment to another value. See Blank card.
Why do my Flex cards not line up?
Because the Desktop columns of the cards in a row do not add up to 12, and a card that does not fit moves to the next row. See Flexible grid section.
How do I hide a card or section on mobile?
Turn on Hide on mobile in a Flex card of the Flexible grid section; no other section or card has a mobile-only visibility setting. Seventh does not support hiding other sections on mobile with theme settings. Build a separate layout with the Flexible grid, or see Custom work and code changes.
Why does my layout look different on mobile?
Because Seventh resizes grids for small screens. Cards size on mobile shows 2 cards per row (Small) or 1 (Large), and screens narrower than 375 px always show one per row. Preview the mobile view with the device icon at the top of the theme editor. See Custom grid section.
Why is the text hard to read on my background image?
Because the overlay is missing or too light. Set Media overlay and a darker Overlay color or Overlay gradient, or choose a Color scheme whose text contrasts with the image. See General section styling.
Why does the sticky section header cover my content?
Because Stick to top keeps the section header in view over a short or crowded section. Turn off Stick to top in that section. See General section styling.
Why is my slide or animated heading text cut off?
Because the content is taller than the slide or the screen, and content that does not fit is clipped. In the Vertical slider, choose a taller Desktop height or Mobile height; in the Animated heading, set Revealing mode to Natural or shorten the text. See Vertical slider section and Animated heading section.
Why are the selected products not showing in my section?
Because the Products list is empty, which shows a placeholder card, or the products are not published to the Online Store sales channel. See Featured products list section.
Why does my custom text or button color not show?
Because the color is fully transparent, or Use custom colors is off. A transparent Custom text color means "use the color scheme", and a Button uses Primary and Secondary only with Use custom colors on. See Heading block and Button block.
Why do italic words in my heading not use the accent font?
Because Apply accent font to italic words is off, or Font is not Headings. See Heading block.
Why does my button not link anywhere?
Because Link is empty. Select a product, collection or page, or paste a full address that starts with https://. See Button block.
Why do my social icons not show?
Because no links are filled in Theme settings → Social; the Social icons block has no settings of its own. See Social icons block.
Why does my Custom HTML / Liquid show nothing?
Because the code has an error or is incomplete. Krown support does not provide help with custom code; check the code with the service that gave it to you. See Custom HTML / Liquid block.
Why do contact form messages not arrive?
Because of the store email setup: Shopify sends contact form messages to your store's sender email, not Seventh. Check Shopify admin → Settings → Notifications → Sender email and your spam folder. See Contact form block.
Still not working?
If none of these fixes work, contact Krown support. Include your store URL or a preview link, the page where it happens, the device and browser, and a screenshot.
