Troubleshoot speed, SEO and translations
Troubleshoot speed, SEO and translations in Seventh: page speed scores, structured data, breadcrumbs and translating theme text.
Applies to: Seventh 4.0.0 and later. Added in: Seventh 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-12 against Seventh 4.0.0.
Use this page for questions about page speed scores, search engines, structured data and translating your store. Shopify controls many of these topics, so each answer says who owns the behaviour and where to change it.
Where to find the settings: Theme settings → SEO & Other settings, Theme settings → Embellishments and Theme settings → Predictive search.
Is Seventh making my store slow?
Not on its own. Store speed depends on the theme, the apps, the images and videos, and third-party scripts together. Apps usually have the largest effect. Seventh is built to Shopify's Theme Store performance requirements. See the Shopify Basics guide Understand your page speed score.
How do I improve my page speed score?
Remove what slows the page, starting with apps. Check these in order:
- Update to the latest Seventh version (see Update Seventh).
- Remove apps you do not use, and ask the app developer to remove code that uninstalled apps left behind.
- Compress large images before you upload them, and use videos only where they matter.
- For self-hosted videos, try Compress MP4 videos in Theme settings → SEO & Other settings → Performance.
Shopify measures the speed score shown in Shopify admin, not Seventh. See Shopify's guide Web performance.
Why does Google Search Console show structured data errors?
Because of the product or article data that Shopify generates. Seventh prints Shopify's structured data for products and articles, and Shopify decides its content. Contact Shopify support for those errors. See SEO and other theme settings.
I use an SEO app. Do I need to turn off the theme's structured data?
Yes, when the app adds its own structured data. Turn on Disable microdata schema in Theme settings → SEO & Other settings, so search engines do not see the data twice. See SEO and other theme settings.
Do product URLs with /collections/ hurt my SEO?
Usually not. Each of these addresses points search engines to the main product address with a canonical link that Shopify adds. They come from Improve product breadcrumb navigation (on by default). Turn it off if you prefer one address per product. See SEO and other theme settings.
How do I change my store's search engine title and description?
In Shopify admin, not in Seventh. The home page title and meta description are in Shopify admin → Online Store → Preferences, and each product, collection and page has its own search engine listing. See the Shopify Basics guide SEO settings in the theme.
How do I change the order of search results on my store?
Shopify controls the search results and their order, not Seventh. Use Shopify's Search & Discovery app for synonyms and product boosts. See Predictive search theme settings.
Which languages is Seventh translated into?
Seventh 4.0.0 includes storefront translations for 33 languages, including English, with right-to-left support for languages such as Arabic and Hebrew. The theme editor is translated into 21 languages. See What is Seventh.
How do I translate my store?
With a translation app. Shopify controls store languages, not Seventh. Add and publish languages in Shopify admin → Settings → Languages, then translate with Shopify's free Translate & Adapt app or another translation app. See the Shopify Basics guide Translate your store into multiple languages.
How do I change a fixed theme text, such as "Add to cart"?
In the theme's language file. Open Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content and search for the text. The change applies to the language you edit. See Shopify's guide Change the wording of your theme.
Why is part of my store not translated?
Because the text comes from a setting, an app or Shopify, not from the theme's language file. Translate text you typed in the theme editor in Translate & Adapt under the theme's content, and app texts in the app. See the Shopify Basics guide Translate your store into multiple languages.
Why do images look blurred while the page loads?
Because Image loading visuals is set to Blur, the default, which shows a small blurred version of each image until the full image arrives. Select Solid color in Theme settings → Embellishments for a flat placeholder. See Embellishments theme settings.
Still not working?
If none of these fixes work, contact Krown support. Include your store URL or a preview link, the page where it happens, the device and browser, and a screenshot.
