Currency format theme settings

The Currency format theme settings in Local show currency codes in prices and set how the country and language selectors look.

Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 2.4.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.

The Currency format settings change how prices and the country and language selectors look. They do not add currencies or languages: those come from your Shopify Markets and languages settings.

Where to find it: Theme settings → Currency format

Currency codes

  • Show currency codes adds the currency code after prices, for example "$1.00 USD" instead of "$1.00". It helps when you sell in several currencies that share a symbol.

Localization settings

These settings change the selectors wherever they show: in the Announcement bar, the mobile navigation drawer and the footer.

  • Show country name in currency selector writes the country name before the currency, for example "Canada (CAD $)" instead of "CAD $".
  • Show ISO name in language selector shows the short language code, for example "EN", instead of the language name ("English").
  • Show country flag shows the flag of the country next to the currency.

Why do I not see the country selector?

Because the selector shows only when your store sells to more than one country (or offers more than one language, for the language selector), and when it is turned on where you want it:

  • Announcement bar → Show country/region selector (desktop only; on phones the selectors move to the mobile navigation drawer).
  • Header → Mobile navigation → Show country/region selector.
  • Footer group → Footer → Show country/region selector.

Add countries and currencies in Shopify admin → Settings → Markets, and languages in Shopify admin → Settings → Languages. Markets and currency conversion are controlled by Shopify, not by Local.
