Password page

The Password page template of Split is shown while your store is password protected: logo, heading, password form and email signup.

Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.

The Password page template is what customers see while your store is password protected, for example before launch. It shows your logo, an "Enter using password" link, a message and an email signup form.

Where to find it: Password → Password header

The Password page has no store header, footer or menus. Open it in the theme editor from the template menu at the top, under Password.

The Password header section sets the top bar of the page:

  • Logo image shows your logo, linked to the home page. Without one, the store name shows as text.
  • Logo image maximum height sets the logo height, 20 to 140 px (default 40 px).
  • On the right, "Enter using password" opens a small window with the password field. Customers who know the password enter the store from there.

What the password page shows

The bundled Password template has three sections, in this order:

  • A Heading section with "Opening soon" and a short text. Change the texts in its Heading and Text blocks. See Heading section.
  • The Password content section. It has no settings: it shows the message you write in Shopify admin, and nothing when that message is empty.
  • An Email signup section, "Be the first to know when we launch", so customers can leave their email. The emails are saved as customers in Shopify admin → Customers, subscribed to marketing. See Email signup section.

You can add other sections, such as an Image or a Slideshow, with Add section. At the bottom, the page shows "This shop will be powered by Shopify".

How do I turn the password page on or off?

In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Preferences and use the Password protection setting. This is controlled by Shopify, not by Split. The same place holds the password and the message that the Password content section shows. See Shopify's password protection guide.

Why can't customers see my store, even after I set it up?

Because the password page is still on. Stores on a trial plan, or without a paid plan, keep the password page until you pick a plan in Shopify admin. Customers who enter the password see the store; everyone else sees the Password page.
