Gift card page
The Gift card page template of Split is the page customers see when they open a gift card they received: the logo and its width.
Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.
The Gift card page template is the page a customer opens from the gift card email that Shopify sends. It shows the gift card value, its code and the buttons to use it.
Where to find it: Gift card → Gift card
The page shows, from top to bottom:
- your logo, linked to the store;
- "Here's your gift card!" and the value. When part of the card was used, the original value is struck through next to the balance left;
- the expiry date, or "Expired on …" for an expired card;
- the gift card code;
- the "Start shopping" and "Print" buttons and, when Shopify offers it, "Add to Apple Wallet";
- a QR code that staff can scan in store with Shopify POS.
The texts are theme texts: change them in Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content.
Logo
- Logo image sets the logo at the top of the page. Without one, the store name shows as text. It is separate from the logo of the Header section.
- Logo image width sets the maximum logo width, 20 to 400 px (default 80 px).
Sending a gift card to a recipient
Customers can buy a gift card product for someone else and have Shopify email it to that person.
Create a gift card product
In Shopify admin, open Products → Gift cards and create a gift card product with its values. Gift cards are a Shopify feature: see Shopify's gift cards guide.
Turn on the recipient form
In the theme editor, open the product template the gift card uses, select the Buy buttons block and turn on Show recipient information form for gift card products. For quick buy, turn on the same checkbox in the Quick view template.
Check it on the storefront
Open the gift card product. The customer sees "I want to send this as a gift" and fills the recipient email, an optional name and message, and an optional send date.
Gift card products with the recipient form do not show the dynamic checkout buttons, so the recipient details always reach the checkout. See Buy buttons.
Can I change the design of the gift card email?
No, not in the theme. The gift card email is a Shopify notification. Edit it in Shopify admin → Settings → Notifications → Gift card created. The theme sets only the page the email links to.
