Collections list page
The Collections list page template of Split shows all your collections or a selection, sorted the way you choose, with text over the images.
Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.
The Collections list page template shows your collections as image tiles, with the page title on the left half of the screen and the collections on the right half. Customers reach it at /collections, for example from the collections menu in the header.
Where to find it: in the theme editor, open the page selector at the top and select Collections list. The template has one section, Collections list page.
All or selected collections
- Select collections to show set to All lists every collection of your store, except the home page collection (
frontpage). - Sort collections by: sets the order when All is selected: alphabetically A-Z or Z-A, by date (new to old or old to new) or by product count (high to low or low to high).
- Set Select collections to show to Selected to choose the collections yourself. Then add one Collection block per collection and drag the blocks to set the order. Sort collections by: is ignored.
The default template of every preset uses Selected with three Collection blocks. Add, remove or reorder the blocks, or switch to All.
Blocks
Collection
- Collection picks the collection the tile links to. The tile shows the collection title.
- Image replaces the collection image on this tile only. Without it, the tile shows the collection image, and a collection without an image shows a placeholder.
The blocks are used only when Select collections to show is Selected.
Text and colors
- Text alignment places the collection title on each tile: left, center or right, at the top, middle or bottom. Default: Left bottom.
- Text under Custom colors sets the color of the collection titles.
- Image overlay sets a color laid over the tile images, so light titles stay readable on bright images.
Leave both colors transparent to keep the theme colors.
How big are the collection tiles?
Each tile is as wide as the right half and half a screen tall on screens wider than 1024 px. A single collection fills the whole right half. On phones and on tablets held upright, the title sits above the tiles and every tile is full width and half a screen tall.
Why does a collection not show on the page?
With Selected, only the collections in Collection blocks show: add a block for it. With All, the collection must be available on the Online Store sales channel; the home page collection (frontpage) is always left out. Collection availability is controlled by Shopify, not by Split.
All Collections list page settings
Every setting in this group, with its type and default.
Accepts these blocks: Collection.
Text alignment (dropdown, default: Left bottom): Sets where the collection title sits on each tile: left, center or right, at the top, middle or bottom. Options: Left top, Center top, Right top, Left middle, Center middle, Right middle, Left bottom, Center bottom, Right bottom.

Text (color, default: transparent): Sets the color of the collection titles on the tiles.
Image overlay (color, default: transparent): Sets a color laid over the tile images, so the collection titles stay readable.

All of your collections are listed by default. To customize your list, choose 'Selected' and add collections.
Select collections to show (radio buttons, default: All): All lists every collection except the home page collection, in the order of Sort collections by. Selected lists only the collections of the Collection blocks, in block order. Options: All, Selected.
Sort collections by: (dropdown, default: Alphabetically, A-Z): Sorting only applies when 'All' is selected. Options: Alphabetically, A-Z, Alphabetically, Z-A, Date, new to old, Date, old to new, Product count, high to low, Product count, low to high.
