Password page

The Password page in Seventh shows while your store is in Shopify's private mode (Store access): its header, a Grid blank section and the copyright bar.

Applies to: Seventh 4.0.0 and later. Added in: Seventh 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-12 against Seventh 4.0.0.

The Password page is the page customers see while your online store is in private mode, for example before launch. It has its own Header, a Grid blank section for your content and its own Copyright bar.

Where to find it: in the theme editor, open the template picker and select Password.

Page content

The password template has three parts, each with its own settings:

  • Header: the logo, an optional custom link and a lock icon. The lock icon opens a modal where you, or anyone with the password, enter the password set in Store access.
  • Grid blank: a Custom grid style section with a Card. The default card has two Heading blocks, an Empty space block and a Newsletter form block, so customers can sign up before launch. You can add more Grid blank sections; this section is available only on the password page.
  • Copyright bar: the copyright text and the "Powered by Shopify" notice.

The password page Header and Copyright bar are separate from the storefront Header section and Footer group. A change to the storefront header does not change the password page, and the other way round.

Password header

  • Select Header at the top of the theme editor sidebar while the Password template is open.
  • The header has no menu, search, account or cart.
  • On tablet and mobile, the custom link is hidden.

Password Grid blank

The Card and the blocks inside the Grid blank section work as in other sections. See Blank card, Heading block and Newsletter form block.

  • Select Copyright bar in the theme editor sidebar while the Password template is open.
  • The copyright text shows the year and your store name.

Turning private mode on and off

Store access is controlled by Shopify, not by Seventh. The password page shows only while your store is in private mode. In private mode, Shopify hides every page of your online store from customers and search engines. Only people who enter the password can see the storefront.

To turn on private mode:

  1. Open Shopify admin → Online Store → Preferences → Store access.
  2. Turn on Private mode and set the Password that customers enter on the password page.

To make the storefront public, turn off Private mode in the same place. Or, on the Online Store page in Shopify admin, select Private, choose Public and select Update (the first time, the button says Launch store). See Restrict access to your online store in the Shopify Help Center.

Why doesn't my Store access message show on the password page?

Because Seventh does not show the Message to your visitors text from Store access. Write your message in the Heading blocks of the Grid blank section instead.

How do I give Krown support access to a store in private mode?

Share the storefront password or a collaborator code with us. See Share a theme preview, storefront password or collaborator code for the steps.
