404 page

The 404 page in Seventh is shown when a customer opens a link that does not exist. This page lists its settings.

Applies to: Seventh 4.0.0 and later. Added in: Seventh 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-12 against Seventh 4.0.0.

The 404 page is the template Seventh shows when a customer opens an address that does not exist on your store, for example a deleted product or a mistyped link.

Where to find it: in the theme editor, open the template picker and select 404 page. The template has two sections, Main header and Main page.

Page content

The page shows the heading "Page not found", the text "The page you are looking for cannot be found" and a Continue browsing button that opens the All products collection.

  • Main header: the title area, with a Page title block that shows "Page not found". Its settings are documented on Regular page.
  • Main page: the not-found text and the Continue browsing button. This section has only Section design settings.

You can add other sections to the 404 template with Add section, for example a Featured collection to suggest products.

Changing the text

The heading, the text and the button label come from the theme's language file, not from section settings.

  • Open Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content.
  • Search for "Page not found" or "Continue browsing".

See Shopify's guide to editing theme content.

How do I send customers from an old address to a new page?

Create a URL redirect in Shopify admin → Content → Menus → URL redirects. With a redirect, customers reach the new page instead of the 404 page. Redirects are controlled by Shopify, not by Seventh. See Shopify's guide to URL redirects.
