What predictive search looks through
With every checkbox off, the suggestions use Shopify's default fields. When you turn on any of the checkboxes, Combine searches the product title, product type, variant title and vendor, plus:
- Search by SKU: the SKU of each variant, so customers can type a product code.
- Search by barcode: the barcode (ISBN, UPC, GTIN) of each variant.
- Search by tag: the product tags.
These settings change only the suggestions in the search drawer. The full results page (after the customer presses Enter) uses Shopify's search.
Why does a product not appear in the search suggestions?
Shopify's predictive search decides which products match and in which order. Check that the product is published to the Online Store and that the word the customer types is in one of the searched fields. To search product codes, turn on Search by SKU or Search by barcode.
