404 page

The Kingdom 404 page appears when a link leads nowhere; it has no settings and shows the theme's not found text and a search field.

Applies to: Kingdom 6.2.0 and later. Added in: Kingdom 2.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Kingdom 6.2.0.

The 404 page appears when a customer opens a link that leads nowhere, for example a deleted product. It shows "Page not found", a short line of text and a search field, with the sidebar as on every page.

Where to find it: in the theme editor, open the page selector at the top and choose 404 page. The 404 page section has no settings.

Changing the 404 text

The texts come from the theme's storefront texts, not from a setting:

Open the theme texts

In Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes, open the menu (…) of your Kingdom theme and choose Edit default theme content.

Find the 404 texts

Search for "Page not found". Change the title and the line under it ("The page you are looking for cannot be found").

Save

Select Save. The 404 page shows the new texts right away.

Adding sections to the 404 page

The 404 page is a template like the others, so you can add sections under the search field with Add section, for example a Featured collection with your best sellers, or a Collection list.

With a URL redirect in Shopify admin → Content → Menus → View URL Redirects → Create URL redirect. A redirect sends customers from the old address to the new page, so they never see the 404 page. This is a Shopify setting, not a Kingdom one.
