Header group
The Header group of Borders holds the header and the sections that show above every page: announcement bars, scrolling text and custom code.
Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.
The Header group is the area above the page content. It holds the Header section and any other section that should appear at the top of every page of your store.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize, the Header group at the top of the theme editor sidebar.

What you can add to the Header group
The Header section is always there. With Add section inside the Header group you can add:
- Announcement bar: a line of text.
- Scrolling text: text that moves across the screen. The Header group has its own variant of this section.
- Custom HTML / Liquid: your own code.
- Apps: app blocks from your installed apps.
Drag the sections to put them above or below the Header. Announcement bar and the header variant of Scrolling text can only be added to the Header group.
Show a section on some pages only
The sections of the Header group appear on every page. Announcement bar and Scrolling text have a Visibility setting, so you can show different announcements on different pages. Custom HTML / Liquid and Apps have no Visibility setting and show on every page.
Add the section
In the Header group, select Add section → Announcement bar (or Scrolling text).
Write the text
Type your message in Content.
Choose the pages
Set Visibility: All pages (the default), Homepage only, Product pages only, or All pages except the homepage.
Place it
Drag the section above or below the Header.
Can I show a different announcement on product pages?
Yes. Add two Announcement bar sections to the Header group. Set Visibility to Product pages only on the first, and to Homepage only on the second. A section hidden by Visibility is also hidden in the theme editor preview of the other pages, so open a product page in the editor to see the first one.
Can I show an announcement on one collection or one page only?
No. Visibility knows the home page and product pages only. Borders does not support a Header group section for a single collection or page. Add a Scrolling text or Rich text section at the top of that page's template instead.
