Announcement bar section
The Announcement bar section of Borders shows a line of text above or below the header, on all pages or only on some page types.
Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.
The Announcement bar section shows one line of text at the top of your store, for example a shipping offer or a sale. It can only be added to the Header group, above or below the Header.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Header group → Add section → Announcement bar
Content
- Content is the message. You can make words bold or italic and add links.
- Text size sets the size, from Extra small to Extra large. Text alignment puts the text on the left, in the center or on the right.
- Color scheme sets the bar's background and text colors. Hide section bottom border removes the line under the bar.
For moving text, use the Scrolling text section instead.
Visibility
Visibility sets the pages that show the bar:
- All pages (the default).
- Homepage only.
- Product pages only.
- All pages except the homepage.
To show different messages on different pages, add several Announcement bar sections, each with its own Visibility. See Header group.
Why is my announcement bar not showing in the theme editor?
Visibility hides it on the page you are previewing. A bar set to Product pages only shows only when you open a product page in the theme editor. Change the page in the page picker at the top of the editor, or set Visibility to All pages.
All Announcement bar settings
Every setting on this page, with its type and default.
Visibility (dropdown, default: All pages): Sets the pages that show the bar. Also applies in the theme editor preview. Options: All pages, Homepage only, Product pages only, All pages except the homepage.
Content (formatted text, default: "Introduce product promotions . Write about your brand. Flash deals!"): Sets the text of the bar. Bold, italic and links are allowed.

Where to find it: Announcement bar → Typography
Text size (dropdown, default: Small). Options: Extra small, Small, Regular, Large, Extra large.
Text alignment (dropdown, default: Center). Options: Left, Center, Right.

Color scheme (color scheme, default: scheme_1).
Hide section bottom border (checkbox, default: off): Removes the line under the bar.

Header
