Age verification section
The Age verification section of Borders covers the store with an age confirmation popup until the visitor selects the enter button.

The Age verification section covers your whole store with a message until the customer confirms their age with a button. Use it for products with an age limit, such as alcohol or tobacco.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Overlay group → Add section → Age verification
The section is not in the Overlay group by default, because once it is added it blocks every customer from the store until they confirm.
Content
- Heading shows at the top of the message. The default is "Age verification".
- Text is the statement customers agree to. The default certifies that they are over 18.
- Button label is the text of the only button. The default is "Enter".
- Background image fills the screen behind the message.
How it works:
- The message covers every page and the page cannot scroll until the customer selects the button.
- The answer is saved in the customer's browser. That browser does not see the message again.
- There is no decline button and no date of birth field. A customer who does not agree simply leaves.
Borders does not check the customer's real age. The button is a self-declaration. If the law requires a stricter check for your products, use an age verification app instead.
Setting up age verification
Add the section
In the Overlay group, select Add section → Age verification.
Write the statement
Write the Heading and Text. Change the age in the text if the limit in your country is not 18.
Set the button label
Type the Button label, for example "I am over 18".
Add a background image
Optionally choose a Background image.
Test in a private window
Save, then open your store in a private window. The message covers the store until you select the button. In the theme editor, the message shows only while the section is selected.
To turn age verification off, remove the section or hide it with the eye icon in the sidebar.
How do I test the age verification again?
Open your store in a new private window. Your normal browser remembers that you confirmed and does not show the message again. You can also clear the site data of your store in the browser settings.

Button label (text field, default: "Enter"): Sets the label of the only button. Selecting it hides the message for good in that browser.
Background image (image): Fills the screen behind the message.
