Cart drawer section
The Cart drawer section sets the buttons, product recommendations and upsells inside the Seventh cart drawer. It applies when the cart type is Drawer.
Applies to: Seventh 4.0.0 and later. Added in: Seventh 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-12 against Seventh 4.0.0.
The Cart drawer section is the cart panel that slides in when a customer adds a product or selects the cart icon. It lists the cart items and can show cart buttons, product recommendations and upsell products.
Where to find it: in the theme editor sidebar, open the Drawers group and select Cart drawer.
Customers see the cart drawer only when Theme settings → Cart → Cart type is Drawer (the default). With Page, the cart icon opens the cart page and this section is not used. The other cart features (free shipping bar, cart notes, gift wrapping, terms checkbox) are in Cart theme settings.
Cart buttons
- Drawer cart actions shows a View cart button, a Checkout button, or both.
- Stick action buttons at the bottom of the cart drawer keeps the drawer footer visible while the customer scrolls.
Recommendations and upsells
- Recommendations are chosen by Shopify for each cart. Seventh asks Shopify for recommendations based on the first product listed in the cart and shows them in a slider.
- Upsells are a fixed list of up to 8 products that you pick in Select products. They show in every non-empty cart, under Upsells title.
- You can use both at the same time.
Source sets which Shopify list the recommendations come from:
- Recommended products: products Shopify relates automatically. They change and improve over time.
- Complementary product: products you assign to each product in Shopify's Search & Discovery app.
Recommendations appear only when the cart has at least one item and Shopify returns at least one product. See Shopify's help page Product recommendations.
Why are no recommendations showing in my cart drawer?
Shopify returns no products for the first cart item. Check these in order:
- Show cart recommendations is on.
- With Source set to Complementary product, the product has complementary products assigned in the Search & Discovery app.
- With Source set to Recommended products, the store has enough products and order history for Shopify to relate them. New stores often get no results.

Cart drawer will only appear to your customers if you have set the cart type to Drawer in the theme settings.
Drawer cart actions (dropdown, default: Show both): Sets which buttons show below the cart items: a View cart button that opens the cart page, a Checkout button, or both. Options: Show "view cart" button, Show "checkout" button, Show both.
Stick action buttons at the bottom of the cart drawer (checkbox, default: off): Keeps the drawer footer (cart notes and discount fields, gift wrapping, subtotal and buttons) visible at the bottom while the customer scrolls the items and recommendations.

Where to find it: Drawers group → Cart drawer → Product recommendations
Dynamic recommendations are based on the items in your cart. They change and improve with time. Shopify Help Center.
Show cart recommendations (checkbox, default: on): Shows products recommended by Shopify for the first product in the cart, in a slider below the items.
Source (dropdown, default: Recommended products): Sets which Shopify list the recommendations come from. Recommended products are chosen automatically by Shopify. Complementary product uses the products you assign in Shopify's Search & Discovery app. Options: Recommended products, Complementary product. Shown only when Show cart recommendations is on.
Cart drawer section: Cart upsells
Where to find it: Drawers group → Cart drawer → Cart upsells
Choose one or more products to promote directly in the cart drawer.
Select products (products picker, up to 8): Sets up to 8 products to promote in every non-empty cart drawer.
Upsells title (text field, default: "You might also like"): Sets the heading above the upsell products. Shown only when Select products is set.
