Custom work and code changes

What Krown support does and does not do for Kingdom code changes, and where to find help for custom work.

Applies to: Kingdom 6.2.0 and later. Added in: Kingdom 2.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Kingdom 6.2.0.

Use this page when the Kingdom settings cannot make the change you want. It explains what Krown support helps with, what needs custom work, and how to keep your changes when you update Kingdom.

What support covers

Krown support helps you use Kingdom as it ships on the Shopify Theme Store:

  • How to set up a feature with the theme settings, sections and blocks.
  • Theme bugs: something that does not work as these docs describe. Krown fixes confirmed bugs in a theme update.
  • Small visual tweaks, such as a color, a font size, a spacing value or hiding an element, with a few lines of CSS for Theme settings → Custom CSS.

What support does not cover

Krown support does not provide custom code work. This includes:

  • New features, sections or blocks that Kingdom does not have.
  • JavaScript or Liquid code, and edits to theme files.
  • Large layout changes, such as moving the sidebar to the top, or a chain of small changes that adds up to a redesign.
  • Fixing code that an app, a developer or you added to the theme.
  • Logging in to your store to make changes.

When a request needs custom work, support says so and points you to the options below.

Getting custom work done

A Shopify developer or agency can build features that Kingdom does not have. For custom Shopify work, Krown recommends Vevol Media, a Europe-based agency that specializes in Shopify development and theme customization. You can also find developers in Shopify's own Partner Directory. See Custom work.

Can I get CSS for a small change?

Yes, for small visual changes. Krown support can give you a few lines of CSS for Theme settings → Custom CSS or a section's own Custom CSS field. Check first whether a setting already does it, for example in General section settings. See Custom CSS and code.

Can I edit the theme files myself?

Yes, at your own risk. Shopify lets you edit the theme code in Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → … → Edit code. Krown support does not help with code edits, and an edit can stop working or block an update. Duplicate the theme before you edit it, and keep a list of every change. See Edit the theme code.

Are my customizations kept when I update Kingdom?

Settings are. Code edits are kept only when you copy them into the new version yourself. Custom CSS fields, the Custom HTML / Liquid section and the Custom Liquid block are settings, so Shopify carries them over. See Update Kingdom.

How do I tell whether a problem comes from custom code or an app?

Test the same page in a fresh copy of Kingdom. Check these in order:

  1. Add the latest Kingdom version from the Shopify Theme Store as a new theme and preview the page. If the problem does not happen there, it comes from a code edit or an app in your theme.
  2. Turn off apps that add blocks, embeds or scripts, one at a time, and reload the page.
  3. Compare with the Kingdom demo store on the Shopify Theme Store.
  4. Test in another browser and on another device.

See Troubleshoot store issues: first steps.

Who fixes a problem caused by an app?

The app developer. Krown support can confirm that a problem does not happen without the app, but it cannot change app code. Contact the app's support with a link to the page where it happens.

Still not working?

If none of these answers fit, contact Krown support. Include your store URL or a preview link, what you want to change, and the page where it should happen.
