What is Split: the Krown Themes Shopify theme with a split-screen design, its presets, the parts of the theme editor and where to start.

Split is a Shopify theme by Krown Themes, sold on the Shopify Theme Store. Its design is built around splitting the screen: most sections show two halves side by side, sized from the screen, for stores with strong product and lifestyle images.
Where to find it: Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes, once you have added Split from the Shopify Theme Store.
What makes Split different
- Two halves: on screens wider than 1024 px, most sections divide the screen into a text half and an image half. Some sections let you pick a full-width layout instead.
- Heights from the screen: boxes are 25 %, 50 % or 100 % of the screen width and height, so a full-height section fills exactly the space under the header. Images are cropped to fill their box.
- One column on mobile: on phones and on tablets held upright, the halves stack and every box is full width.

Versions
The current version is Split 5.1.0, released 2026-09-24. Split was first released as 1.0.0 on 2017-06-29. Every release since Split 3.1.0 is listed in What's new in Split. To install a newer version, see Update Split.
Presets
Split has three presets on the Shopify Theme Store:
- Cuber: white header and page, black text, Montserrat, product cards in a tall 5:6 ratio.
- Jagger: a near-black header and dark drawers over a light grey page, Jost headings and DM Sans text.
- Looker: one cool grey color for header, page and drawers, DM Sans, square product cards.
Every preset installs the same theme files. Presets differ in their Theme settings values and their demo templates. See Split presets.
What Split includes
- Three section groups that show on every page: the Header group (announcement bar, header, breadcrumb), the Footer group and the Overlay group (popup, cookies banner, promotional banner).
- 29 content sections you add with Add section, from the Slideshow to the Flex grid. See Sections.
- Theme blocks (Split 5.0.0) inside the cards of the Flex cards and Flex grid sections. See Theme blocks.
- Page templates for every Shopify page type, plus the Quick view popup that opens from quick buy.
- Theme settings for colors, typography, product cards, cart, embellishments, SEO and performance, predictive search and social links. Start at Colors theme settings.
- Drawers that slide in from the side for the menu, cart, search and filters. See Drawers.
Where do I start?
Start with the setup video, then set your store-wide look in Theme settings: Colors, Typography and Product card. Then build the home page from the Sections list, using the Image size recommendations for your images.
