Caption block
The Caption block adds a short label above or below other blocks in a Split Flex card or Text card, with its own size and colors.
Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 5.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.
The Caption block adds a short line of text, such as "New collection", above or below the other blocks of a Card or Text card. With a background color it looks like a badge.
Where to find it: select Add block inside a Card, Text card or Content group, then choose Caption.
Caption text and colors
- Content holds the text. It accepts bold, italic and links, on one line. A caption with no text is not shown.
- Text size: Extra small (12 px), Small (14 px, the default), Regular (20 px) or Large (24 px) on screens wider than 1024 px, scaled by the body size from Typography theme settings.
- Background color turns the caption into a pill: the text gets padding and a background, with the button corner radius.
- Text color sets the caption color. Leave it transparent to use the card's text color.
How do I make a badge-style label?
Set a Background color and a contrasting Text color. The caption then shows as a small box with rounded corners, like the theme buttons. Leave Background color transparent for plain text.
