Empty space block
The Empty space block adds vertical space between blocks in a Split Flex card or Text card: small, medium or large.
Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 5.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.
The Empty space block adds vertical space between two blocks of a Card or Text card, for example to push a button away from a heading.
Where to find it: select Add block inside a Card or Text card, then choose Empty space.
Adding space
Height sets the extra space: Small adds 0 px, Medium 20 px and Large 40 px.
Every block in a card already has a gap under it, set by the section's Text spacing. The Empty space block is a block too, so it adds one more of these gaps on top of its Height. With Small, it adds only that gap.
How do I add more space than Large?
Add two Empty space blocks one after the other, or raise Text spacing in the Flex cards or Flex grid section, which widens the gap under every block.
