Microdata and breadcrumbs
Kingdom adds schema.org microdata (JSON-LD) to every page: your website and organization, a breadcrumb list, and Shopify's structured data for products and blog articles.
- Disable microdata schema removes all of it. Turn it on only when an SEO app adds its own structured data, so search engines do not get the same data twice.
- Improve product breadcrumb navigation links products inside a collection with a URL that contains the collection, such as
/collections/shirts/products/white-shirt. The product page breadcrumb and the microdata breadcrumb then name the collection the customer came from. It applies to products in the collection page grid and in the Featured collection section.
Performance
- Preload links on hover starts loading a page as soon as a customer moves the mouse over its link, so the page opens faster when they select it.
In Kingdom 6.2.0, turning Preload links on hover off stops the preloading on the cart page only; the other pages keep preloading.
Why do product links contain /collections/ in the URL?
Because Improve product breadcrumb navigation is on (the default). A product opened from a collection gets a URL with the collection in it, so the breadcrumb can show the collection. Every such URL has a canonical link to the main product URL, so search engines do not see duplicate pages. Turn the setting off to use the plain /products/… URL everywhere.
Should I turn off the microdata when I use an SEO app?
Yes, if the app adds product or organization structured data itself. Check the app's settings first. Two sets of the same structured data can confuse search engines. See SEO settings in Krown themes.
All SEO and performance settings
Every setting in this group, with its type and default.
Disable microdata schema (checkbox, default: off): Removes the schema.org markup (website, organization, breadcrumb list, product and article data) from every page. Turn it on only if a third-party SEO app adds its own structured data.
Improve product breadcrumb navigation (checkbox, default: on): Links products in the collection page grid and the Featured collection section with a collection URL (/collections/…/products/…), so the product breadcrumb names that collection. The canonical URL stays the plain product URL.
