Exit intent popup section
The Exit intent popup section of Combine shows a message when a desktop visitor moves the mouse to the top of the window to leave.
Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 2.4.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.
The Exit intent popup section shows a message when a customer on a desktop computer moves the mouse to the top of the window, as if to close the tab or leave the store. Use it for a last offer or a newsletter reminder. Combine added it in 2.4.0.
Where to find it: select Exit intent popup in the theme editor sidebar, after the Footer group. It is the same on every page.

Test it on the storefront
Select Save. Open the store in a private window on a computer, then move the mouse up past the top of the page. The popup opens.
Content
- Title is the heading of the popup, Text the message under it.
- Image shows under the text, at its own aspect ratio.
- Button label, Button link and Open links in a new window add one button at the bottom.
- The popup closes with its close button, a click outside it or the Esc key.
Functionality
Popup frequency sets how long Combine waits before it shows the popup again to a customer who closed it: Show each day or Show each week. In Combine 4.2.0, Show each month shows the popup only once per browser: after the customer closes it, it does not come back.
The popup opens at most once per page view.
Why does the exit intent popup not show on mobile?
Combine shows it only on screens with a mouse. The popup opens when the mouse moves up into the top 20 px of the window, and phones and tablets have no mouse pointer. Combine has no exit intent trigger for touch screens; use a popup from the Popups section with a delay or a scroll trigger instead.
Why does the exit intent popup not show in the theme editor?
Combine turns the mouse trigger off in the theme editor, so the popup does not open while you edit. Select the Exit intent popup section in the sidebar to see its design, and test the trigger on the storefront in a private window.
